The meeting which took place on Thursday (11/6) in the room of Commission VII was chaired by the Chairman of Commission VII of DPR RI Airlangga Hartanto and attended by the State Minister for Research and Technology Kusmayanto Kadiman, and all Heads of LPND, including Chief of BAPETEN As Natio Lasman, who was accompanied by 1st Secretary Wawan Suwanda Djajasudarma and Echelon II officers. |
The scope of the discussion in the meeting included the 2009 state budget execution, achievement of priority activities, policies and development of science and technology research, an explanation by the Research and Technology Officials, the National Research Council (DRN), Eijkman and PP Menegristek of Science, and the answers to written questions of Commission VII DPR RI. The Factor of food security, energy, information technology and communications technology and transport management, defense and security technology as well as health and medicines remains a priority in the discussion in the meeting. On the policy and the development of science and technology research conducted by the Ministry of Research and Technology through the dissemination of results, the minister said that the dissemination program is a policy instrument to encourage or accelerate the application of research results by industry or Government Institution or society, so that in turn, it will assist in accelerating the region and optimize the targets of regional development. The surveillance program of nuclear energy utilization that are being made by BAPETEN currently include radiation protection and safety of diagnostic and intervensional radiology, supervision over the use of radioactive substances and X-ray in the mining areas of mineral and coal, and supervision of mining by-product ( TENORM - Technology Enhance Naturally Occuring Radioactive Material), all carried out to ensure the safety and security of workers, communities and the environment from potential radiation hazards. In the short exposure, in front of the House of Representatives Commission VII, BAPETEN Head said that on the regulatory issues related to the construction site and construction plans of nuclear power plants, BAPETEN is already well prepared. Given the disasters that often occur in our nation, BAPETEN continues to optimize nuclear preparedness. “for nuclear preparedness, BAPETEN continue to coordinate with BNPB to prepare countermeasures in case of disaster”, BAPETEN Head said. |
