BAPETEN held an Audience Meeting with the Indonesian Association of Radiology Specialists (PDSRI) at the Bapeten Office, Thursday, 19 January 2023. This activity aims to foster communication and friendship between regulators and professional organizations of radiology specialists.
This audience discussed several important points, namely harmonization of BAPETEN’s Regulation (Perba) No. 4 of 2020 and Minister of Health Regulation (PMK) No. 24 of 2020, implementation of radiation protection training, licensing process constraints, input for improving radiology services and various important matters regarding radiology regulations.
The event began with remarks from the Director of Licensing of Radiation Facilities and Radioactive Sources (DPFRZR), Ishak said that there was a wedge between Perba No. 4 of 2020 and PMK No. 24 of 2020, especially in terms of management requirements. "The intersecting meanings here are very positive with the aim of complementing each other, these two regulations are references in the implementation of licensing," he added.
Then Head of the Centre for Regulatory Assessment of Radiation Facilities and Radioactive Sources (P2STPFRZR) Taruniyati Handayani said the difference was in the licensing requirements. "Bapeten has a requirement through a performance base approach, because we see through the lens of radiation safety," he added.
Meanwhile, Health Facility Inspection Coordinator Roy Chandra Primarsa hopes that PDSRI monitors all draft regulations in BAPETEN so that they can collaborate to provide positive input to produce useful regulations.
The discussion continued by discussing various matters on radiation protection training and licensing in the context of nuclear medicine. Ishak emphasized that he made formal compliance and factual compliance efforts in carrying out the licensing process. "The most important thing for us is safety, second safety, and third safety," he said.
PDSRI General Secretary Reyhan Eddy Yunus thanked BAPETEN for being willing to hold this audience meeting activity. He hoped that PDSRI could continue to collaborate and contribute to making regulations on radiation.
The event was closed with a QnA discussion about the obstacles faced in licensing at BAPETEN and steps that could be taken to be more efficient and beneficial to the community. (BHKK/DA/OR/RA)
