Public Consultation on Safety Provisions for the Design of a Power Reactor Terrace

In the framework of drafting a regulation of the Nuclear Regulatory Energy Agency (BAPETEN) concerning Safety Provisions for the Design of a Power Reactor Terrace, the Directorate of the Regulation of Supervision of Nuclear Installation and Material Control (DP2IBN) held a public consultation about nuclear installations and materials legislation, in Bandung (11/09).
Public consultation is part of a series of regulatory drafting processes which are intended to get input from stakeholders.
The event was opened by Plt. Director of the Regulation of Supervision of Nuclear Installation and Material Control Bambang Eko Aryadi, and followed by remarks and directions from the Chairman of BAPETEN Jazi Eko Istiyanto. In his remarks Jazi said that this regulation is expected to make permit applicants easier to develop nuclear technology, without setting aside safety aspects.
Dahlia Cakrawati Sinaga, as Deputy Chairman for Nuclear Safety Assessment, added that the regulations regarding the safety provisions for the design of the power reactor terrace were made to make it easier for permit applicants to meet the special design requirements in Government Regulation No. 54/2012 concerning Nuclear Installation Safety and Security.
The event was attended by representatives from the Center for Applied Nuclear Science and Technology (PSTNT) of BATAN, academics from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), and nuclear experts.
By keep implementing the health protocol, this event held in a combination, online and in person. From this event, input that was obtained from stakeholders will be followed up in drafting regulations. (DP2IBN/Fery/BHKK/Bams)
