Kembali 26 Desember 2024 | Berita BAPETEN | 146 lihatThe Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency (BAPETEN), through the Directorate of Licensing of Radiation Facilities and Radioactive Materials (DPFRZR), conducted a radiotherapy facility verification activity at the West Sulawesi Provincial General Hospital (RSUD), Mamuju Regency, on December 24-26, 2024, for radiotherapy operating permits. This activity aims to ensure that the availability of bunkers for external beam therapy (Linac) and brachytherapy is safe for the safety of workers, patients, the community, and the environment.
The verification team ensures that the design that has been built meets safety standards through calculations of the design of radiation-resistant buildings and main equipment, supporting equipment, human resource competencies, and operating procedures for radiotherapy operational activities, using both Linac and brachytherapy, have met radiation safety and source security requirements.
The inspection team, led by the Director of DPFRZR, Ishak, with team members Ahmad Maulana, Maradi Abdillah, Sulistiyoningsih, and Toni Wahyu Pamungkas, conducted verification for radiotherapy facilities with a brachytherapy machine of the Elekta brand, Flexitron Brachytherapy Afterloading Platform type with a Co-60 source, and a Linac Machine of the Elekta brand, Synergy type.
The inspection conducted on-site includes checking documents and technical compliance of the design of the built facility and the adequacy of the thickness of the radiation barrier in the radiotherapy bunker, ensuring the performance of the main equipment and supporting equipment, conducting radiation exposure measurements and dosimetry testing, ensuring patient flow and personnel capabilities in operating brachytherapy and Linac machines according to standards, checking protection equipment and radioactive source security, and the performance of the radioactive source security system.
Based on the results of the verification of the radiotherapy operating permit, the hospital is committed to completing the findings submitted by the BAPETEN team within a certain time limit. The success of the verification activities was supported by the hospital, which followed and welcomed the activities until the end; any deficiencies were considered as input and technical suggestions for fulfilling radiation safety according to applicable regulations and standards.
It is expected that with the radiotherapy service, the people of West Sulawesi will find it easier to get further treatment so that they do not need to be referred outside West Sulawesi. [DPFRZR/Dwiangesti/BHKK/GP]
