Radiotherapy Permit Verification at Sentra Medika Cibinong Hospital, Bogor Regency

The Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency (BAPETEN), through the Directorate of Licensing of Radiation Facilities and Radioactive Materials (DPFRZR), conducted a radiotherapy facility verification at Sentra Medika Cibinong Hospital, Bogor Regency, West Java Province, from June 10-13, 2025. The Radiotherapy Facility Verification aimed to ensure the availability of the bunker for external beam therapy and brachytherapy for the safety of workers, patients, the community, and the environment. The Verification Team ensured that the design met safety standards through calculations of the radiation protection structure and main equipment, supporting equipment, human resource competency, and operational procedures for radiotherapy operations using both a linear accelerator (LINAC) and brachytherapy.
The inspection team, led by Iin Indartati, the Lead of the BAPETEN Health Facility Licensing Function Group (DPFRZR), and team members Herry Irawan, Made Pramayuni, Dewi Lelyana Maharani, and Lilis Misnawati, conducted verification of the radiotherapy facility using the following modalities: an Elekta Harmoni Pro LINAC and an Elekta Flexisource Co-60 brachytherapy unit.
The on-site inspection included document and technical review to determine the suitability of the facility design and the adequacy of the radiation shielding thickness of the radiotherapy bunker; ensure the performance of the main and supporting equipment; conduct radiation exposure measurements and in vivo dosimetry testing; ensure patient flow and personnel capability in operating the LINAC and brachytherapy units meet standards; inspect radioactive source protection and security equipment; and ensure the performance of the radioactive source security system.
Based on the results of the radiotherapy operating permit verification, the hospital committed to addressing the findings submitted by the BAPETEN team within a specified timeframe. The smooth verification process was supported by the hospital's participation and positive feedback from the program's completion. Any deficiencies were considered as input and technical suggestions for meeting radiation safety standards in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. Sentra Medika Cibinong Hospital is expected to become the first hospital in Bogor Regency to provide integrated cancer treatment, serving the surrounding community.
