The Inspection Team, chaired by the Director DPFRZR Ishak, consisted of BAPETEN Radiation Supervisors Ahmad Maulana, Dwi Angestiningsih and Toni Wahyu Pamungkas, who conducted verification at Lavalette Hospital, Malang City, for the modality of the Elekta Flexitron HDR Brachytherapy aircraft with a Co-60 source.

While the Permit Verification Inspection Team at RSUD Dr. Djamil, Padang City, chaired by the Coordinator of the Health Facility Licensing Group-BAPETEN Iin Indartati with members of BAPETEN Radiation Supervisors Yaya Umaya, Sulistyoningsih and Naufal Alif Syarifuddin, verified the modality of the Brachytherapy Elekta Flexitron HDR Ir-192 source.

The scope of the onsite inspection includes document and technical inspection of the suitability of the design of the built facility and the adequacy of the radiation barrier thickness of the brachytherapy bunker, ensuring the performance of the main equipment and supporting equipment, measuring radiation exposure and dosimetry testing and ensuring patient flow and the ability of personnel to operate the Brachytherapy aircraft according to standards, as well as inspection of radioactive source protection and security equipment and the performance of the radioactive source security system.

From the results of the verification of the radiotherapy operating license for brachytherapy, the Hospital is committed to completing the findings submitted by the BAPETEN team within a certain time limit. The smooth running of the verification activities was supported by the hospital who followed and welcomed the activities until the end, any shortcomings were considered as input and technical advice on the fulfillment of radiation safety in accordance with applicable regulations and standards.

In the license verification activity at Lavalette Hospital, the hospital was led directly by the Hospital Director, Dr. Mariani Indahri, MMRS welcomed the BAPETEN Verification Team. It is expected that the addition of a brachytherapy aircraft with a Co-60 radioactive source will improve superior services at the Cancer Center, so that Lavalette Hospital can help the people of Malang Raya and its surroundings, in fulfilling important treatment facilities for cancer.

RSUD Dr. Djamil Padang procured an additional brachytherapy aircraft, with the source Ir-192 through Design Modification Approval can meet and will soon apply for a radiotherapy operation licence until the licence is issued, so as to reduce the long queues of cancer patients and meet the increasing demand for reliable medical services for the community.
