BAPETEN Advances Sustainable Oversight Transformation at the FY 2026 Annual Nuclear Safety Inspectors Meeting
Kembali 26 Februari 2026 | Berita BAPETEN | 20 lihatBAPETEN held the Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 Annual Nuclear Safety Inspectors Meeting on 25–26 February 2026, in Jakarta. The meeting carried the theme “Transformation of a Sustainable and Synergistic Nuclear Regulatory Oversight System to Support Golden Indonesia.”
The event commenced with an activity report delivered by the Director of Inspection of Nuclear Installation and Materials (DIIBN), Lukman Hakim. In his report, he outlined the background of the selected theme, the number of participants, and expressed appreciation to all parties who attended and contributed to the successful organization of the meeting.
He emphasized that transformation cannot be achieved instantly, but must be carried out continuously through the strengthening of human resources and digital systems. “Synergy among organizational units and stakeholders is essential to ensure that regulatory oversight serves as a foundation for national security and safety,” he stated.
Zainal Arifin, Acting Chairman of BAPETEN, in his opening remarks, expressed his hope that BAPETEN can contribute to achieving the vision of Golden Indonesia 2045. He emphasized that as a regulatory authority, BAPETEN must maintain a strong oversight system, enhance public trust, and foster an environment where nuclear energy is utilized safely and responsibly.
“I emphasize to all inspectors the importance of prioritizing safety, security, and safeguards in carrying out daily duties. Continue to strengthen your competence, integrity, collaboration, and synergy,” he affirmed.
On the second day, the activities were conducted in the form of parallel discussions addressing the evaluation, challenges, and inspection strategies in the areas of Radiation Facilities and Radioactive Materials (FRZR) and Nuclear Installations and Materials (IBN). On that occasion, the Performance and Conduct Evaluation of IBN Inspectors was also presented by BAPETEN.
Several materials were presented during the discussion, including the Mechanism for Implementing BAPETEN Regulation Number 5 of 2025, delivered by Senior Radiation Inspector, Nanang Triagung Edi Hermawan; Licensing Policy for Radiation Facilities and Radioactive Materials (FRZR) in the health, industrial, and Radiation Protection Officer (PPR) sectors, presented by Junior Radiation Inspector, Grace Esterina; lessons learned from the supervision of nuclear installation decommissioning in Yogyakarta and Bandung, delivered by the Director of Licensing of Nuclear Installations and Materials (DPIBN), Wiryono; as well as the presentation on the implementation of baseline environmental monitoring at prospective nuclear power plant (PLTN) sites by Senior Radiation Inspector Helef Raflis.
The activity also included the presentation of the 2025 medical check-up results of BAPETEN Inspectors, delivered by Patricia Gunawan from Prodia.
Deputy Chairman for Nuclear Safety Assessment, Haendra Subekti, in his closing remarks, emphasized that enhancing the individual capacity of inspectors is essential in carrying out BAPETEN’s regulatory duties. According to him, every inspector must be able to adapt quickly, especially in response to rapidly advancing technologies.
This meeting is expected to serve as a forum for strengthening capacity, aligning policies, and enhancing synergy among inspectors in supporting the transformation of a sustainable and adaptive nuclear regulatory system to meet future challenges. [BHKK/Da/CD/HRUF]
