BAPETEN Attends Coordination Meeting on Strategic Trade Management in Indonesia

The Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency (BAPETEN) attended a coordination meeting regarding Strategic Trade Management (STM) in Indonesia, organized by the Deputy for Coordination of Commerce and Digital Economy at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. Held at Graha Sawala, Ali Wardhana Building, Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Jakarta, the meeting was attended by representatives from 18 relevant ministries and agencies.
Key points of discussion included drafting the legal framework for dual-use item export governance to serve as the foundation for STM implementation in Indonesia; establishing role distribution and coordination mechanisms among ministries/agencies through the formation of an STM Task Force; conducting outreach and actively engaging the business sector in STM development and implementation; arranging cooperation mechanisms with international partners to align with Indonesia's national needs and interests; and ensuring readiness for the Southeast Asia Forum on Export Control (SEAFEC) on September 15–16, 2026, regarding both substantive content and inter-ministerial/agency coordination.
Each ministry and agency presented its views on STM within its respective scope and authority. STM is being implemented for the national interest through the development of systems and infrastructure that provide benefits and meet Indonesia's specific needs. [BHKK/GP]
