Kembali     13 April 2026 | Berita BAPETEN | 28 lihat

BAPETEN organized a Workshop on Reactor Safety Evaluation and Review from April 13–17, 2026, at the BAPETEN Auditorium. The event brought together member countries of the Asian Nuclear Safety Network (ANSN), including China, the Republic of Korea, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mongolia, Singapore, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Viet Nam. The workshop aims to enhance safety aspects in nuclear reactor development while fostering knowledge exchange among member countries.

The event opened by Laura Frisoni's remarks from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), who highlighted the workshop as a cohesive platform for exchanging experiences and reinforcing global commitment. She encouraged active participation from all ANSN members and expressed her hope for productive and successful discussions.

Ahmad Ciptadi Syuryavin, Head of the Education and Training Center of BAPETEN, expressed his appreciation to the IAEA for its continued support and trust in hosting the event in Indonesia. He underscored the workshop’s strategic role in strengthening regional cooperation to advance nuclear safety, particularly for advanced reactors, including Small Modular Reactors (SMRs). Amid the rapid development of nuclear programs across Asia, he highlighted the urgent need to reinforce safety infrastructure and establish effective regulatory frameworks. Through collaboration within ANSN, member countries are expected to exchange experiences and best practices, while further strengthening regulatory capacity to ensure long-term nuclear safety.

Over the five day program, the workshop featured presentations on national nuclear programs as well as country specific issues from ANSN member states. Discussions focused on the evaluation and review of nuclear reactor safety, particularly in the development of Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), which are emerging as a key technology in many countries.

Through this workshop, ANSN member countries are expected to exchange knowledge and experiences in ensuring the safety of nuclear reactor development. The event is also expected to further strengthen regional cooperation in advancing nuclear safety standards in a sustainable manner. [BHKK/HRUF/CD]
