BAPETEN Working Visit to South Sulawesi, Holding Public Consultation on Radioactive Waste Regulatory Policy
Kembali 30 Oktober 2025 | Berita BAPETEN | 28 lihatBAPETEN, through the Directorate of Regulation of Radiation Facilities and Radioactive Material (DP2FRZR), conducted a series of working visits to the Office of the Governor of South Sulawesi and Dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo Hospital on 30 October 2025. The working visit aimed to hold a Public Consultation on the Draft Government Regulation in Lieu of Government Regulation No. 61 of 2013 concerning the Management of Radioactive Waste with stakeholders.
The BAPETEN team was led by Haendra Subekti Deputy Chairman for Nuclear Safety Assessment (PKN), accompanied by Mukhlisin Director of DP2FRZR, Dahlia Cakrawati Sinaga Senior Radiation Inspector, along with the team.
During the working visit to the Office of the Governor of South Sulawesi, the BAPETEN team was received by Andi Kasman, Head of the South Sulawesi Environment and Forestry Agency (DLHK). The meeting discussed various strategic issues, including the planned construction of Nuclear Power Plant (NPP), BAPETEN’s functions and authority in nuclear supervision, electricity supply shortages and the development of Wind Power Plants in Jeneponto, installation of submarine cables by PLN, requirements for Environmental Impact Assessment (AMDAL), human resource development and nuclear research by the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), institutional capacity enhancement, mining regulation, export food irradiation, installation of Radiation Portal Monitors (RPMs) at ports, findings by the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) regarding environmental reclamation, natural radiation surveys, safety aspects of NPP sites, and directives from the Minister of Environment regarding the optimization of waste management.The BAPETEN team then continued their working visit to Dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo Central General Hospital (RSUP) as part of the public consultation on the Draft Government Regulation to replace Government Regulation No. 61 of 2013 concerning Radioactive Waste Management. The visit was received by the Hospital Director, Prof. Dr. dr. Syafri Kamsul Arif, and opened with remarks from Haendra Subekti.
The visit included a presentation of the hospital profile by Director of Operational Services, dr. Marsella Wahyuni Olii, and a presentation on nuclear oversight policies, radioactive waste management, and nuclear licensing by Director of DP2FRZR BAPETEN, Mukhlisin.
During the discussion, issues were addressed regarding radiotherapy services under BPJS, the use of radionuclides in nuclear medicine facilities, handling of hazardous and toxic (B3) medical waste, patient clothing storage, and septic tank capacity. The activity concluded with a tour of the hospital’s nuclear medicine and radiotherapy facilities. [DP2FRZR/BHKK/GP]
