The event commenced with the "3rd Steering Committee Meeting for the 16th APSN Annual Meeting" on Monday, November 3, 2025. This meeting was led by a representative from the Republic of Korea, serving as the Head of the Steering Committee, and was attended by representatives from Australia (the APSN Chair), Japan, the Republic of Korea, and Indonesia.

This year's APSN meeting was attended by representatives from 15 countries and opened by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Safeguards, who outlined current trends, challenges, and priorities regarding IAEA safeguards. The annual APSN meeting comprised three major segments: the APSN Plenary Meeting (November 3-4, 2025), followed by a technical visit to the University of Western Australia (November 5, 2025), and concluding with the IAEA/Australian Safeguards and Non-Proliferation Office (ASNO) Safeguards Seminar (November 6-7, 2025).

During the event, BAPETEN actively participated in Working Group I by presenting on good practices regarding domestic inspector training and in Working Group III regarding the development of the APSN website, which is managed by BAPETEN. BAPETEN's participation in this APSN meeting demonstrates Indonesia's commitment to strengthening regional cooperation on nuclear safeguards and enhancing capacity for the oversight and security of nuclear materials in the Asia-Pacific region.

Through this active participation, BAPETEN plays a role in fostering synergy among nuclear regulatory bodies in the region and expanding strategic cooperation networks with international partners. This event also serves as a vital platform for BAPETEN to further reinforce Indonesia's role in supporting the global objective of utilizing nuclear energy for peaceful purposes while ensuring safety and security.
