Furthermore, BSN is also committed to becoming a National Level Dosimetry Laboratory (LDTN) or Secondary Standard Dosimetry Laboratory (LDSS) designated by BAPETEN. The radiation measuring instruments (Alat Ukur Radiasi or AUR) used as standards in the LDSS have been calibrated against primary standards in primary standard laboratories or through a network, such as the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM). The objective of the LDSS is to be a dosimetry laboratory that possesses, is capable of operating, and maintains secondary standard radiation-measuring instruments and/or standard sources.

The field verification inspection was led by Grace Esterina, the team leader and activity implementer for the Research and Industrial Facilities Licensing Function Group, along with several members of the inspector team who also served as permit evaluators (Muhammad Dradjat Kurniawan, Nugraha Dwi Santosa, Fitria Sandra, and Faisal). The event also presented material related to permit requirements for Calibration Facilities Using Ionizing Radiation Sources and discussed follow-up actions based on the permit application evaluation notes. Present at the entry meeting for this activity were Dyah Styarini, director of the National Standard for Biological Radiation Mechanics Measurement Units—BSN, and related technical staff.

During the activity, the Inspection Team examined all technical documents, measured radiation exposure and dose rates, measured radiation containment structures based on as-built drawings, tested radiation safety system parameters, tested facility security system parameters, tested and simulated irradiation of IC detectors and electron meters, and tested the competency of personnel submitted in permit applications.

One of the objectives of this field evaluation is to implement the mandate of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 10 of 1997 on Nuclear Energy, specifically oversight of licensing aspects related to the requirements for permit applications for the use of ionizing radiation sources.

Article 16, paragraph 1, states that every activity related to the use of nuclear energy must comply with the safety, security, peace, health of workers and members of the public, and environmental protection.

Article 17, paragraph 1, states that every use of nuclear energy must have a permit, except in certain cases further regulated by government regulation.

This also ensured the suitability of BSN's calibration facilities as a candidate for Secondary Standard Dosimetry Laboratory (SSDL).

The field evaluation proceeded smoothly and resulted in several recommendations for the BSN in fulfilling licensing requirements. On this occasion, the BAPETEN Team expressed its appreciation for BSN's readiness and cooperation in meeting the acceptance criteria for licensing requirements, ensuring a smooth permit application process.
