The event began with remarks from a representative of the South Sulawesi Provincial Health Office, followed by opening remarks from Zulkarnain, Director of Inspection for Radiation Facilities and Radioactive Sources at BAPETEN. This was followed by a presentation on the introduction to the nuclear sector census and technical implementation guidelines, delivered to the participants by Bambang Riyono, a radiation supervisor.

Representing BAPETEN, Zulkarnain expressed his expectation that this activity would serve as a proactive outreach effort to obtain accurate data on radiation sources (SRP) and reaffirmed the agency's commitment to continued cooperation and collaborative oversight with the South Sulawesi Provincial Health Office. This collaboration and synergy aim to ensure that safety oversight regarding the use of nuclear technology operates more effectively and efficiently through coordinated and integrated joint supervision efforts.

The primary benefit of this census is the provision and mapping of accurate, up-to-date data regarding the use of ionizing radiation sources in the South Sulawesi region. High data accuracy is expected to strengthen the oversight and control of safety aspects at radiation facilities, thereby ensuring public and environmental safety. Furthermore, the census is expected to optimize planning and serve as a support system for formulating nuclear regulatory policies at both provincial and national levels.
