Attending the event were BAPETEN’s Public Communication Coordinator, Abdul Qohhar Teguh Eko Prasetyo: the Head of Health Services Division of the Serang District Health Office, Melly Siltina; and the Sub Coordinator of Health Promotion, Ratna Khaerunnisa, who served as speakers for the session.

Abdul Qohhar explained the current situation and conditions in the Cikande area, as well as what the community can do to avoid potential radiation hazards. “In radiation protection, we refer to three key principles: distance, time, and shielding. I hope that, since your homes are close to PT PMT, you can avoid getting too close to the area as much as possible, and I advise you not to stay there for too long if you must approach it,” he added.

Meanwhile, Melly Siltina encouraged residents not to hesitate to participate in the Free Health Examination (PKG) program at the Cikande Community Health Center (Puskesmas). According to her, PKG is very important in the early detection and assessment process should there be any residents exposed to the radioactive material Cesium-137 (Cs-137).

Ratna Khaerunnisa added that in the current situation, she reminded the community to be more diligent in washing their hands and practicing clean and healthy living habits. “At this time, I urge all of you to wash your hands more frequently. We must be more attentive in maintaining our health, especially in preventing any radioactive substances from potentially entering our bodies,” she explained.

The residents of Combrang Village, Nambo Udik, were very enthusiastic about participating in the event and expressed their appreciation for the presence of BAPETEN and the Serang District Health Office in their area. It is hoped that this activity will increase public awareness and knowledge to help prevent potential hazards of exposure or contamination by radioactive substances in the Modern Cikande Industrial Area.
