This activity marks an important momentum in strengthening synergy among government institutions in supporting the implementation of state duties, particularly in maintaining security and safety in Indonesia’s waters and jurisdiction. The granted state-owned assets (BMN) consist of 3 units of Radiation Identification Devices (RID) and 20 units of Personal Radiation Detectors (PRD). The PRD equipment functions as an initial detection tool to identify the presence of radiation exposure exceeding environmental radiation levels. Meanwhile, the RID devices are capable of identifying the types of detected radioactive substances.

The Deputy Chairman for Nuclear Safety Assessment, Haendra Subekti, emphasized that the grant of this equipment is an implementation of the cooperation between BAPETEN and BAKAMLA, which has been established since 2012. It is expected to enhance early detection of potential radioactive threats in Indonesia’s maritime areas.Through the signing of the handover report for these state-owned assets (BMN), BAPETEN and BAKAMLA RI are expected to mutually support each other in carrying out their respective duties. This synergy will strengthen the monitoring of mineral resource traffic that may contain nuclear materials or radioactive substances, as well as support efforts to map the environmental radioactivity baseline in Indonesia’s maritime regions. Furthermore, it will improve preparedness and the effectiveness of supervision against potential threats involving radioactive materials, as part of efforts to ensure the safety and security of the public and the environment.
