Field Evaluation of Construction Permit for Radioisotope Production Facilities at PT. Bio Farma (Persero)

BAPETEN, through the Directorate of Licensing for Radiation Facilities and Radioactive Materials, carried out field evaluation activities regarding applications for Construction Permits for Radioisotope Production Facilities at the Radioisotope and Radiopharmaceutical Production Site Locations in the Cikarang area, Bekasi Regency on December 22 2023. This field evaluation activity aims to ascertain the location of the site for the construction of the radioisotope and radiopharmaceutical production bunker as well as the direct obstacles faced by Bio Farma in fulfilling the construction permit.
The field evaluation team was chaired by the Director of Licensing for Radiation Facilities and Radioactive Materials-BAPETEN Ishak, with team members namely Iin Indartati, Herry Irawan, Made Pramayuni and Maradi Abdillah. The scope of the inspection includes examination of technical documents, conformity of the project location with the construction permit application, conformity of the technical plan document for radiation-protecting building facilities with the bunker plan design (as-bult drawing), conformity of the utility building plan document, and measurement of initial radiation exposure.
Bio Farma will build a radiopharmaceutical product production facility to improve health facilities, especially cancer diagnosis and treatment in Indonesia, which plans to produce the radiopharmaceutical Flourodeoxyglucose (FDG) in mid-2024. And is expected to be able to provide radiopharmaceuticals to several hospitals in the DKI Jakarta and West Java areas as of June 2024.
