BAPETEN and ENCO Hold Nuclear Emergency Response Training in Yogyakarta
Kembali 05 Mei 2025 | Berita BAPETEN | 19 lihatThe Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency (BAPETEN), in collaboration with ENCONET Consulting (ENCO), held a training course on Preparation, Conduct, and Evaluation of Emergency Response Exercises and a table-top exercise on DSS Operation and Use for Supporting Decision-making in a Nuclear or Radiological Emergency from May 5-9, 2025, in Yogyakarta.
The training was funded by the European Commission and was attended by 21 participants from nine countries in Southeast Asia: Indonesia, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. Present on the first day of the training were Taruniyati Handayani, Head of Centre for the Regulatory Assessment of Nuclear Installation and Materials (P2STPIBN) BAPETEN, as Co-Chair; Ahmad Ciptadi Syuryavin, Head of the BAPETEN Education and Training Division, as course director; and experts from ENCO, including Georg Fritsch, Bojan Tomic, Giovanni Magrotti, and Vedrana Vuletic.
The training opened with remarks from Ahmad Ciptadi Syuryavin, who emphasized the importance of preparedness for nuclear and radiological emergencies. This was followed by remarks from Taruniyati Handayani, who emphasized the importance of regional cooperation in addressing potential nuclear threats. The official opening of the training was delivered by Giovanni Magrotti, the EC JRC-Ispra representative from Italy.
Following the opening remarks, participants introduced themselves and participated in a presentation session titled Introduction of TC 7 and TC 8: Logistics and Objectives, delivered by Vedrana Vuletic. The first day's activities concluded with an open discussion involving all participants.
This training aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to design and implement emergency response exercises through TC#7 and TC#8. Table-Top Exercise (TTX #9) will focus on testing the operation of the JRODOS DSS decision support system, including its use to support decision-making regarding protective measures and responses to nuclear emergencies. Furthermore, this training also emphasizes the importance of interaction between DSS operators and decision-makers, as well as regional coordination in emergency situations.
